Carmine — pivot door in burled walnut with a red cast-resin river

A garnet seam, hinged.

A pivot door of burled walnut, split by a garnet-red seam of cast resin — a river stood on end, opening at a touch. The burl is book-matched and set around the seam; the garnet red is hand-tinted against the wood it will live with, so no two doors carry the same river.

Typical build shown. Every Carmine is drawn to your opening before the pour.

Each pour is one of a kind — this exact river will not repeat. The design can be ordered again; the pour cannot.

The making

The burl comes first — two book-matched faces of walnut, figured edge to edge, split apart and set in the mould. The gap between them is templated, sealed and poured in one session: garnet red, hand-tinted against the wood it will live with, degassed and cured slowly before the leaf is trued, lacquered and its edges sealed. The concealed floor-spring pivot is cut just off the seam's axis, so the door opens around its own river.

The lead time is 6–12 weeks, made to order. Drawings first, then sample pours you approve, then the single cast and its slow cure — the full method is on the craft page, and the deeper background in river tables, explained. Carmine belongs to the vertical side of the collection — more in wall art and doors.
