Strata

pedestal table
Made to order Built by hand · priced to the piece
Strata — a live-edge wood spine set in turquoise resin on a hand-turned wooden pedestal, poolside on the Red Sea coast

A single slab, held in still water.

A live-edge length of figured hardwood, set adrift in a pour of Red Sea turquoise and lifted on a hand-turned wooden pedestal. The resin is cast deep and left with a soft, rippled surface, so the top catches light like water just disturbed — and the wood floats in it, grain and sapwood reading clean through the colour. The base is turned from solid wood: two rounded forms stacked, a stone balanced on a stone.

Made to order — each Strata is drawn to its slab and your room before the pour. No two tops are alike.

Each pour is one of a kind — this exact top will not repeat. The design can be ordered again; the pour cannot.

The making

The Strata slab read close — raw crackled cast edge, rippled smoke-turquoise resin, and the figured wood spine running through the pour
The cast edge — left raw, exactly as it set The pour — hand-tinted, rippled like water just disturbed The spine — figured hardwood, read clean through the colour

Every Strata is made to order — its own slab, its own pour, no two the same. The wood is chosen first, for a length of grain with enough movement to hold the eye on its own. It is set into a mould and the resin poured deep in a single session, then cured slowly before the top is levelled, worked back and sealed. The pedestal is turned from solid wood, to carry the weight of the cast top on one quiet column.

Lead time is 6–12 weeks, made to order. We resolve the wood, the tint and the size with you first — the full method is on the craft page, and the background to resin-and-wood work is in river tables, explained.
