Vanta
folding screen
Four panels, four kilograms. It looks heavier than the room.
Amber cast resin, poured into panels of black woven twill — the textile drinks the light, the resin holds it. Each panel weighs about four kilograms: light enough to move with one hand, dark enough to anchor a room.

The making
Vanta began as a question of weight — how dark a screen could stand while staying light enough to move alone. The answer is in the panel: a stretched field of black woven twill, laid flat, with amber resin poured through it in a single degassed pass. The twill kills reflection; the resin carries what little light the room gives it. Four panels, hinged in blackened brass, cure for three weeks before assembly — and the finished screen folds flat to the width of a single panel.
The lead time is 6–12 weeks, made to order. Drawings first, then sample pours you approve, then the casts and their slow cure — the full method is on the craft page, and the deeper background in river tables, explained. Vanta belongs to the same family as our wall art and doors — the same pour, stood upright.
