ASK was founded between two seas — the Mediterranean it learned from, the Red Sea it works beside. Everything on this site leaves our own workshop: the pours, the joinery, the weaving, the finishing. No piece is made anywhere else.

Two seas

The atelier's palette was set long before the first pour. The Mediterranean gave it the cooler register — sea-glass greens, smoke greys, the light of northern harbours. The Red Sea, where the workshop stands, gave it the warmer one — turquoise over coral, amber at dusk, the gold that Levante pours into. Every tint we mix is one of those two waters, remembered in resin — and mixed once, never repeated.

Working on the coast is not a romantic detail; it is a production fact. Salt air, hard sun and sand are the conditions our outdoor and hospitality pieces are built to survive, because they are the conditions we build in.

The maker

ASK Studio is Ash — Ashraf Mahrous, an Italian-Egyptian artist and maker. He designs every piece and works it by hand: the pour, the joinery, the finishing.

Alexandria taught him to see; years between Italy, Britain and the United States taught him to build. He lives and works on the Red Sea coast, a few steps from the water whose colours run through the resin. When a piece is made to order, it is made by his hand — one maker, one standard.

Each piece takes six to twelve weeks, from the first drawing to delivery.

One workshop

We deliberately kept the atelier whole. The resin work made the name, but the same benches cut the joinery for Atlas, hinge the slats of Cadence and wrap the bamboo of Meridian. One roof means one standard — and it means that when we say a piece is ours, we mean every part of it.
