A slab set down on three worlds.
A thick round top of burled walnut — ten centimetres of it — set down on three oversized bronze spheres. The wood carries the storm of the burl; the bronze carries the wood. Nothing else. An ASK design in solid materials, built to order in our own workshop.

The making
Atlas began with the burl — a walnut blank too heavy with figure to cut into anything but one thick round. The top is milled to ten centimetres and left to rest in the workshop before its final flattening, so the wild grain settles where it wants to. The spheres are cast in bronze, turned true, then finished twice: a patina brushed in, the high faces polished back, so the metal reads both old and new. The top simply rests on its three points — gravity is the joinery.
