Let us be plain at the outset: ASK Studio does not have a Dubai showroom. We are a single atelier on Egypt's Red Sea coast, where Ash — the studio's Italian-Egyptian founder — casts and finishes every piece by hand. What we do have is a short, direct line across the Gulf. The Red Sea sits a few hours' freight from the UAE, so a river table for a Dubai villa or an epoxy dining table for an Abu Dhabi majlis is crated bespoke, shipped and installed in your room, fully finished.

This is the same studio, the same maker and the same method we describe on our made-in-Egypt page — only the delivery leg changes. Nothing is sub-contracted, batched or held in stock. Each piece of resin furniture in Dubai is a one-of-one object, designed around a specific room before a single cut is made.

How we work remotely with Gulf clients and designers

Most of our Gulf orders are placed without anyone setting foot on the coast, and that is by design. We have refined a remote process that loses nothing in translation between Egypt and the UAE:

• You send the room. A floor plan, a few photographs taken at different times of day, ceiling heights and any doorway or lift constraints. For a designer, the general arrangement and a mood reference are enough to begin.
• We propose wood and resin. A flitch chosen for its figure and a resin tint mixed for your piece alone, presented as drawings and renders.
• We ship a sample pour. A physical resin sample and a wood off-cut travel to Dubai so you judge the colour and grain in your own light, not on a screen — this matters more in the Gulf than almost anywhere.
• You approve, then we build. Measured drawings and the sample are signed off before anything is made.

We reply to every enquiry within two working days, and we work comfortably alongside interior designers, fit-out contractors and project managers serving Dubai and Abu Dhabi villas — issuing dimensions, weights and finish specifications for sign-off as a specialist supplier inside a larger team.

Why rested timber and a full cast matter in Gulf conditions

The Gulf is demanding on furniture in ways that don't show up in a showroom. Three things test a fine table here: intense, near-vertical light through tall glazing; sustained summer heat; and the sharp swings that come from rooms held at deep air-conditioning then opened to forty-degree air. Lesser pieces cup, split or check under that regime within a season or two.

The defence is built in long before the pour. Our timber is air-seasoned — whole flitches rested in the store for years, never kiln-forced — so the wood has already done most of its moving before it ever becomes a table. A slab that has reached equilibrium slowly is far calmer when a Dubai villa cycles between AC and the outdoors. On top of that, the resin is poured as a single degassed cast and left to cure for roughly three weeks before the first cut, which locks the wood into a stable, non-porous matrix rather than a thin surface skin.

Light, heat and colour — choosing a piece that holds up

Gulf light is the single biggest factor people underestimate. A resin tint that reads as a deep teal in a European room can flatten to a pale wash under Dubai's midday sun, and a high-gloss top that looks immaculate in a brochure becomes a mirror for every spotlight and skylight. We account for this from the first conversation.

In practice that means steering toward pigments with depth and a little opacity rather than thin translucent tints, and often recommending a hand-rubbed oil or a satin finish over full gloss for pieces that sit in direct light — it reads richer and forgives the glare. It also means siting the piece thoughtfully: a resin top is happiest out of prolonged, direct midday sun, however well it is made. What Gulf buyers order

The pieces we make for the UAE tend to be the quiet centre of a large, light-filled room. Three kinds of piece recur:

Delivery to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the GCC

Every piece leaves the studio in a bespoke crate, built around its own dimensions and braced for the journey. From Egypt's Red Sea coast, freight to the UAE is straightforward — we coordinate shipping, customs documentation and final-metre access (the lift, the stairwell, the doorway a heavy slab must actually pass through) as part of the order, working with your contractor or building management where a Dubai tower or gated community requires it.

We deliver and install across the Gulf: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the wider Emirates, as well as Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Delivery and installation are factored into your quote from the start, so there are no surprises at the door. The distance between the coast and your villa is rarely the obstacle it first appears — the studio comes to you, crated and insured.

Lead time, cost and how an order begins

A bespoke piece runs six to twelve weeks from approved drawings, plus shipping time to the Gulf. Most of that window is the material setting its own pace — timber rested for years, a single uninterrupted pour, then roughly three weeks of curing before the first cut. Rushing it shows later, so we don't; the lead time is the quality, not a backlog. We plan backwards from a move-in or handover date wherever a project has one.

There is no fixed price list. Cost follows the rarity and size of the flitch, the volume and finish of the resin, the complexity of the form, and delivery — so we quote each order individually rather than name a figure we can't stand behind.
