Furniture for Soma Bay, made on the same coast

ASK Studio makes bespoke furniture — river and dining tables, outdoor pieces, screens, doors and whole interiors in cast resin, rare wood and bamboo — by hand on Egypt's Red Sea coast, and delivers and installs it at Somabay. No overseas freight, no stock, no middleman: an atelier on your own coast, building one piece at a time for a specific room, terrace or lobby.

The atelier on your coast

Most fine furniture reaches Soma Bay the long way: specified from a catalogue abroad, freighted through a port, and serviced — if it is serviced at all — from a city hours away. We work the short way. Our workshop stands on the Red Sea coast, where every piece is cast, cut and finished by hand, and Somabay's villas, lagoons and hotels are our home conditions rather than a distant delivery address. As we put it to hospitality clients: salt air is a design input, not a surprise.

That geography changes what ordering feels like. We survey on site — measuring your room or terrace and reading its light before anything is drawn. A finished piece travels by road, crated and insured, with no border, customs file or sea freight in the way. And after delivery the maker stays nearby: cast resin is a sealed, serviceable surface, and the workshop that poured it can re-polish or refinish it years later. Our care and maintenance specification — the same document we issue with every piece — sets out exactly what that means in practice.

Built for this exact climate

A table that lives at Soma Bay leads a demanding life: hard vertical sun, salt in the air, and rooms that swing between deep air-conditioning and forty-degree terraces. Furniture made for milder places shows it within a season or two. Ours is engineered for this coast from the first decision.

The full method is on the craft page, and our care guide covers daily life with a resin piece — coastal light included.

For villas and residences at Somabay

The pieces owners order for Soma Bay homes are the quiet centres of bright rooms and the objects a terrace is arranged around:

Every piece is drawn around your actual space — dimensions, doorways, the direction of the afternoon light — and approved from measured drawings and a physical sample pour before we build.

For the destination's hotels, restaurants and marina

For operators and their FF&E teams we run a dedicated hospitality and contract practice: communal and bar tables engineered for daily public use, reception desks with backlit resin faces, feature walls, and outdoor pieces built for salt air and a thousand touches a day. The process is the one your fit-out schedule expects — site survey, sample pours and material boards, dimensioned shop drawings for sign-off, then phased production and installation around your calendar.

Two documents are yours before a single conversation: the one-page capability summary — what we build, how we work, materials and lead times on a single sheet — and the care and maintenance spec that ships with every piece. For vessels at the marina, cast resin's salt-resistance and our joinery travel well; see yacht furniture.

How an order works at Soma Bay

An order runs six to twelve weeks from approved drawings — most of that is the resin curing at its own pace, which we will not rush. The difference the coast makes is everything around that window: the survey happens at your villa rather than over a call; you judge the sample pour in your own light; and once the piece is finished, delivery is a crated, insured road journey measured in days, not an overseas leg measured in weeks. Installation is by our team, and the terms — staged payment, insured delivery — are set out plainly in your quote. There is no price list; each piece is quoted to its drawing, and what a river table costs explains the drivers honestly.

Common questions

Do you deliver and install furniture at Somabay?

Yes — and without a border in the way. The atelier is on Egypt's Red Sea coast, so a finished piece travels to Soma Bay by road, crated and insured, and is installed by our team. No international freight, no customs, no shipping lead time measured in weeks.

Can you visit my villa at Soma Bay before I order?

Yes. We survey on site in Egypt — we measure the room or terrace, photograph the light through the day where it matters, and agree the intent before anything is drawn. You approve measured drawings and a physical sample pour before we build.

Will resin and wood furniture survive outdoors by the sea?

Our workshop stands on the same coast, so salt air is a design input, not a surprise. Outdoor pieces are built in weather-treated wood and bamboo; resin surfaces are sealed, non-porous and cast with UV-inhibited systems — though no resin is fully sunproof, so we steer siting and finishes for pieces that live in strong light. A care and maintenance spec ships with every piece.

Do you work with hotels and restaurants at Somabay?

Yes — hospitality and contract work is a dedicated practice: communal and bar tables, reception desks with backlit resin faces, feature walls and outdoor pieces, built to an FF&E process with drawings for sign-off, physical material samples and phased installation around your fit-out calendar.

How long does a made-to-order piece take?

Six to twelve weeks from approved drawings. Most of that window is the resin cure — roughly three weeks before the first cut — which can't be rushed without risking the piece. Because Soma Bay is on our own coast, the delivery leg afterwards is days, not the weeks an overseas order adds.

Do you have a showroom at Somabay?

No — we are a single atelier and workshop on the Red Sea coast, and every piece is made to order rather than held in stock. We come to you: on-site surveys, physical sample pours you judge in your own light, and delivery and installation by our team.
